Dr. Ben Buckner earned a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering and an M.S. in Urban and Regional Planning, and had a number of years of practical experience in surveying. He was Professor and Surveying Coordinator at East Tennessee State University from 1985-1995, and held a similar position at the Ohio State University from 1973-1985.
Dr. Buckner wrote several surveying books and articles on surveying and presented many seminars. His several years of practical experience included most aspects of land, control, engineering, and topographic surveying. He was licensed as a Land Surveyor (IL, OH, TN, retired status in KY), Engineer (IL, OH) and Community Planner (MI) and was a member of the Tennessee Association of Professional Surveyors as well as an honorary member of PLSO (Ohio).
Ben and his wife, Dr. Teresa Haynes, have established the “Dr. Ben Buckner Surveying and Mapping Scholarship Endowment” in the ETSU Foundation.
