A discussion of the apportionment of excess and deficiency: when, why and how. Learning to recognize the error and to apply the principle, "place the error where the error occurred". Consideration is given to retracement, apportionment and the role of senior-junior rights. Included are sequential conveyancing where junior-senior rights exist, simultaneous conveyancing, such as in subdivisions and with wills and partitions; and the so-called “remnant rule.” (33 pages)
